In short, anorexia is an eating disorder in which people will starve themselves to death. Anorexia mainly affects adolescent girls. They are very afraid of getting fat. They think they are overweight, but in fact, most people with anorexia have a full 15% lower body weight than normal. Anorexia affects about 1% of adolescent women. This is about one in a hundred women.

Some psychiatrists believe that anorexia is more than thinness or obesity. It stems from the fear of growth and loss of control. This is about the fear of becoming a woman, growing up, establishing relationships, and leaving home.
Her body is constantly changing and growing. She doesn’t like it and wants to get smaller again. Some psychiatrists believe that eating disorders may also be caused by life experiences (such as abuse).
Some studies have shown that if the mother suffers from anorexia, the child is 12 times more likely to suffer from anorexia than people without a family history.

People with anorexia cannot save themselves. It must be treated by mental health professionals who are experienced in dealing with anorexia. Some receive long-term psychotherapy.

However, the first thing is to restore the girl’s health as much as possible. The person may need to be coaxed to eat, and a supporter may be required to actually observe to ensure that he eats. Anorexia involves many health problems. Some of them are osteoporosis, arrhythmia, and in the most severe cases, permanent failure of normal growth and development. Most women with anorexia will lose their normal menstrual cycle. If an anorexic woman becomes pregnant, she may have a miscarriage or premature delivery.
Without treatment, as many as 20% of patients with anorexia will die. After treatment, 60% of people can regain a healthy weight. However, even after receiving treatment, about 20% of people will still be addicted to weight and food throughout their lives.

If you meet a loved one about anorexia, be prepared to deal with someone who is in a state of rejection. They will be angry and may become more lonely and depressed. You cannot take any action to change what the person you love thinks of him or herself. You can’t let the one you love eating. There are many organizations that can help people with anorexia and their families get the help they need.
